The most adorable Secretary of Defense, ever.

November 12, 2006

I know I’m more than a few days late on this one, but I thought I’d commemorate his resignation with some of the lighter moments from his reign time as Secretary of Defense.

That’s kinda gay.

Nothing better than a solid awkward silence during a live TV broadcast. I realize no one will believe me when I say this, but I was actually watching this game when this happened. ESPN, you so funny homophobic.

Again gracias to Harrison.

…passes it to the man, shoots it, and boom goes the dynamite.

November 12, 2006

Here’s an oldie but a goodie. Classic clip of a kid absolutely biting it on his (I’m assuming) first attempt at a sportscast. I know I mentioned Ricky Gervais a couple posts ago, but seriously this has to be the most painfully awkward thing I’ve ever seen.

Hidden gem alert! Be sure to watch for the mouthed “I’m so sorry” during the tennis bit. Priceless.

Special thanks to Harrison for bringing this gem out of retirement.

Ladies and gentlemen, here they are…douchebags of the year Jim DuBois and Ethan Chandler!

November 12, 2006

Ricky Gervais, eat your heart out. Best part of this clip: taking a song about a man with AIDS making a final plea to his father and turning it into a song about a corporate merger. “And we’ve got Bank One…on the run! What’s in your wallet? It’s not Capital One!” Genius.

You’re the best! AROUND!

I don’t know why but this is absolutely hilarious.

Sony has no balls

October 18, 2006

So, the new Sony ad came out this week and I’m just going to come out and say it…”Meh.” It’s not that great. I enjoyed the teaser previews more than the actual spot, which is a major problem. Now a lot of people are going to jump on me and say things like, “But all the planning and orchestration and blah, blah, blah.” That’s great. I respect that. And don’t get me wrong, it’s cool and all. In fact, if I weren’t comparing it to the original commercial I would probably be raving about it. But they chose to do a “sequel”, no one made them. This new spot is missing the random, unpredictable beauty that was in the original balls commercial. This one, in my humble opinion, just comes across as mechanical and, dare I say it, boring. Then again I could be wrong…I usually am. The YouTube version follows, click here to see the much better quality version on the Sony site.

Ugh…I think I’m catching a Viral

October 12, 2006

Love viral videos? Love knowing which viral videos are the most viral-ey? Then you’s about to love you some Ulmo, an aggregator and ranking system of all videos viral. In honor of this viral behemoth, here’s one of the most viral videos of all time:

Bring back the frames

October 10, 2006

Many will remember the fantastic HP “picture book” ads of the past couple years touting their imaging technology. Well apparently they worked and sold a bunch of cameras because they’ve moved on to printers. Only, well, not so much. They’re going the viral route and if you ask me, it’s nothing to forward about. You decide:

Lonelygirl15 isn’t so lonely anymore.

October 10, 2006

So I won’t bore people with a critique of the lonelygirl15 saga. I will say that I disagree with people who say that it was unethical, all you have to do is take a look at their ongoing support of the series. It wasn’t less eithical than “reality” tv in which people think they’re viewing real life. Hardly.

Anyways, what this post is really about is that the people behind lonelygirl15 have teamed up with the U.N. to produce a viral video for a new “Stand Up” movement at millenniumcampaign.org. The goal, similar to the One campaign people might be more familiar with, is to stamp out world hunger, forgive international debt, fight infant mortality, etc. The millennium campaign specifically targets the young generation, naming them as the first generation that can solve world hunger within their lifetime. Here’s the website, here’s the video:
